Golf Exercise Video To Improve Power And Distance

By Mike Pedersen

It never fails to amaze what excuses you and people like you will make before admitting that a golf exercise video can help you to maintain your handicap. When their game starts dropping off most people blame their clubs, the course or the weather. Well, there are many reasons why you might want to change your golf clubs, but a loss of form is not one of them.

Don’t Blame Your Equipment for Your Lack of Form

Have you thought that it might not be your golfing equipment or the course that is at fault, but you? Perhaps you are not as fit as you used to be. Maybe age is starting to creep up on you and your joints are creaking a bit.

Even if you don’t agree (and, let’s face it, who does?) perhaps you need a course of strength and flexibility training to help you get your old game back again. A loss of handicap can be a serious thing to a golfer who has pride in their game, and you must do what you can to avoid it; or at least hold it off for as long as possible.

It’s actually quite amusing how golfers will spend a darn sight more on their golfing equipment than they will on their body. They will spend hundreds, and sometimes even thousands, of dollars on a set of clubs and some golf balls, yet quiver if asked for some cash to help them keep fit enough to play the game they love. Nobody likes to admit that they are getting a bit less fit than they used to be, but why do you think that the top pros have their own trainers?

Have Your Golf Trainer Right In Front of Your Eyes

If you play your cards right, you can have your own golf trainer too. Speaking only to you, right in front of you, and privately. You can achieve this with a video that shows you the exercise routines that you need to keep you fit and supple enough to keep producing your best.

Golf fitness exercises can not only help you to keep on top of your game, but can help you to stay injury free. Staying clear of injury is especially important to competition players to whom injury can mean a substantial loss of income.

This, of course, does not apply to the average golfer, but you should be doing all that you can to maintain your fitness, and your ability to play to the maximum of your potential and your ability.

Golf exercise videos can be used in your home or your office to keep your body fit for the unusual and unnatural rotational movements required to play golf properly.

A good video will not require you to use expensive or bulky equipment, and certainly does not involve you lifting heavy weights. No amount of weight lifting will make you play golf better. What you need is to keep exercising the muscles and joints that you use when swinging a golf club.

There are specific techniques for doing this, and by following the routines provided in a good golf DVD you will be able to carry them out properly.

Rotational flexibility is of extreme importance, and there are specific exercises that require little or no equipment that you carry out in any odd five minute break you might have in the office. This is the type of golf-specific training that you would not get in a normal gym, but that is essential for your fitness to play golf.

You Don’t Need to be Mr. Universe to Drive 300 Yards

Strength is also important, but not brute muscular strength. Bench pressing is of no use to a golfer, but swinging a club with added weight provides the resistance required in the rotational swing movement to build up the core strength that you require as a golfer.

You can even fix elasticized straps to a door or wall, and swing with them in your hands. That provides the same type of resistance, and builds up your swing strength that lifting 300 pound weights never could.

You need a video to follow to be sure that you are doing these exercise properly, and carrying out the correct number of repetitions. A good DVD will go through the whole thing with you, from the first exercise, through every repetition, until you are finished.

There is no doubt that if your game is starting to fall off, golf exercise videos can help you maintain your handicap, even if you did not believe that your fitness was in question.
