A Guide To Looking After Your Golf Clubs
Anyone who plays golf knows that a good set of equipment helps the game immensely. Comfortable clothing is nice, and pull carts for the bag take the strain off of the back. It is the golf clubs, however, that are an indispensable piece of equipment. It would be impossible to play the sport without them; therefore, it is vital that you take care of them and keep them in top condition so that they last for many more rounds and many more years. You must know how to keep golf clubs in good condition.
Always keep a wet towel on hand when playing your round of golf. Your clubs will collect dirt and mud as you play, and it is important to swipe the grime away from the club face so that you maintain consistent contact with the ball. Simply wipe the face with the wet towel as soon as the club is soiled, and the dirt should come right off. If a towel slips your mind and the clubs collect dirt that is left on, then simply soak them that night so that the grit can be removed more easily. Do not place the entire club in water, though.
Even if you are careful to wipe the clubs with a wet towel, it is still a good idea to scrub the faces occasionally with a brass brush. Any harsher metals will gouge the club and lead to inconsistent shots due to improper contact with the ball. Before taking a brush to the club, the head may be soaked so that the brush can more thoroughly do its job.
Utilize head covers on all of your clubs. They will be tossed around a bit in the bag, and the heads will come into contact. The head covers will provide the necessary cushion to prevent dinging and scratching. Do not be foolish and hit the golf ball off of a tree root or a rock, either. This will only damage your club and possibly your wrist. Replace grips every year or two to maintain a comfortable handle on the clubs.
In order to keep golf clubs in good condition, simply take pride in them and keep them clean. Do not allow them to strike each other directly, and do not allow the entire shaft to get wet. By taking care of your golf clubs, they will provide many years and many enjoyable rounds to you.
